Yes your appearance does matter.
professionals are always well groomed and well dressed.yes it is a factor
Appearance is important and it have to be adequate to the job and the culture.
We’d all like to believe that career success is strictly a result of talent, drive, and skill set. But other factors unrelated to your work performance, such as personal appearance, influence your chances for advancement. Appearance is always a factor in primate hierarchy—how we approach others and think of them in our internal mind mapping of people and prestige. There are a number of human factors involved in people perception: age, gender, status, context, grooming, aesthetics, wardrobe, accessories. They all go to defining personal style and how people think they are being perceived. But your looks can also be used against you. Being very attractive can especially make it difficult when it comes to co-workers who might have assumptions as to how you got your job, which means that you have to work even harder to prove yourself and even then you might be hard to accept—a beautiful and smart co-worker can definitely appear to be a threat.
Personal appearance is a double-edged sword for women and men—if they are too attractive it can work against them and they are sometimes not taken seriously, by men and women. Attractiveness gives a more positive impression in work settings. Personal appearance is a powerful factor in hiring, promotions, and earnings. It’s not all about physical beauty, it can itself sometimes be a negative in those areas—it’s about presenting yourself strategically. I think overall attractiveness does play a role in life and in work, but it is more about the package—dressing appropriately, having a great attitude, and having a strong work ethic all relate to a woman’s and men’s appearance and perception in the workplace. When you have the right combination, you’re most likely to get a promotion and be more successful financially.
Yes your appearance does affect the interviewer. One should be properly dressed for the interview. But that is to the point before the questions are asked.
· It can be said if you have a pleasing appearance the interviewer would be more receptive to your answers.
· But to get to the next stage of the interview (normally most interviews are taken in different stages) the answers that you give have to be convincing.
Without a doubt. It shows that you have pride in your appearance
I also feel better and more confident when I wear a suit.
