There is no single best solution.
For some companies, digital marketing which includes social media marketing, search engine optimization, content marketing, and so on are best.
For others, traditional marketing works the best.
For yet others, a hybrid solution is the best bet.
The ideal solution is to either look at what your competitors are doing and try to follow a reactive marketing method or experiment with new marketing mediums and see which works the best.
With most big companies like Coca Cola turning turning their attention towards digital marketing and even some companies like GM withdrawing it’s million dollar ad spending on Facebook, it’s a 50-50 game.
For some companies it works while for others it doesn’t.

To decide which of the two is better, one should weigh the pros and cons of each medium.
For instance, digital marketing is better than traditional marketing when it comes to (a) Capability of choosing the audience (b) For high levels of interaction with the audience (c) For improved tracking and performance measurement, and (d) Working on a tight marketing budget, and looking for cost efficient methods.
Traditional marketing is useful when it comes to (a) Reaching a mass audience (b) Building a brand name through high exposure (c) Limited internet penetration in the market.
A successful marketing campaign would be one that has a optimum mix of all the available mediums.
