In Static Routing, it's your job to figure out how to reach each and every network. Would be suitable if you have a small Network. In Dynamic Routing Routing Protocols (RIP, EIGRP, OSPF, BGP) figure out how to reach any particular network. For a Medium and Large sized networks Static Routing would be a tedious job. It gives me chills to imagine Internet working on the Static Routing.
Static route: you have to configure your routing table manualy, if any changes happens to your network, routers will not be able to comunicate, then you will have to edit it manually
Dynamic route: routers gets routing table automatically through Hello,Advertising messages,
If any changes happens to your network, routers will get it themselves.
In Static Routing you configure routes manually whereas in Dynamic Routing its the job of the routing protocols to select the best path.
Static Routing is not fault tolerant while Dynamic Routing is fault tolerant.
In case of any fault in the routing path and link goes down static routes can't sense the faulty router and find the new path again while in Dynamic Routing, routing protocols have ability to find the best path again
static routing is fixed routing used by the isp and work on core routers where as dynamic routing used by the isp as well as organization and it is for company because the are work with multiple protocol for that and as per their company requirment they went for change and colaborate with other company sharing the protcol. and its changable routing dynamic is
In Dynamic Routing IP changes every router restart. And in Static Routing IP always is no changes when router restart. And static is more expensive than dynamic.
Static routing you define the path to reach the remote Site, In Dynamic Routing when you pri=ovide the remote network address routing protocol finds its way to reach the remote Network.
Static routes are hardly used unless for a specific reason to do so. finding the best path to reach a remote network is a function of the routing protocol, in case the current path fails, routing protocol finds a another way to reach the destination, thats the advantage of using dynamic routing
