Its an IQ question I request all to attempt it answer is right or wrong thats not relevant but kindly attempt it. atleast try.
Dear Mr.Kapil
The Earth's Gravitational attraction at that altitude is only about11% i.e;1/4 given by calculation below , less than it is at Earth's Surface,Weight is ideally1/4 its value on the surface So a person weighing60 Kgs will be approx15 Kgs in Space So imagine VisaVis Comaparison of Weight of Clth and Water One will not be able to rinse it both air and cloth will remain floated in the air.
weight is the force of gravity on an object, and equals GMm/r^2 where G is a constant, M is the mass of the planet, m is the mass of the object, and r is the distance from the center of the planet .So at this height and altitude cloth and water will be twice away from centre than on surface so decreased by factor2^2 or weight is1/4 its value on surface.
Tricky one....Since water and cloth both float, you will not be able to rinse cloth in water naturally. But, if you can create a jet of water using a pump, you should be able to rinse cloth. But, you will not be able to wring it to remove water out of the cloth, as both float....
I bet you will get flu!!
Dear Kapil,
First of all, thank you for seeking my answer to your question. Here is what I think.
We have all learnt that while on earth, it is the gravitational force that keeps us grounded on the surface of the earth. This means there is a very strong downward pull to the central point of the earth, which fixes us on the ground.
In the absence of gravity, all matters float. Therefore, in this instance, I don't think you can rinse a soaked cloth since the property of water changes. Here, the surface tension of water will be directed inward the water molecules.
This will be evident when you wring the soaked cloth as the water coming out of it will stick to the cloth like a film or will look like a form of gel around the cloth, since there is no force to pull it away from the cloth.
So the cloth will still remain soaky or jelly in appearance.
dear kapi, you said rinse it??as in cleaning or spraying the cloth with water, rinsing is the action of applying water to a surface to make it wet.right??or washing it lightly.
if you spray (rinse) a soaked cloth with water in space or in earth water will not be absorbed into the cloth as the cloth is already wet.how could it absorb water if it is already soaked.
in space if you spray it with water they will not mix and water will be travelling upward or stay a float.so will the cloth.
and remember the cloth is already soaked.so additional water will not be absorbed or mixed.
Well,i read in class6 that the boiling point of water falls as the altitude rises.so,ideally water shd vaporize and vanish but inside the shuttle since the outer space is a vacuum and low pressure area without pull & without atmosphere which contributes to the h2o nature of water so it is bug obvious that water looses the flowy liquid state bcz the hydrogen n oxygen atom gets free so free that they start dispersing but due to vacuum suction the molecules behave abnormally whereby they r loose still bcz of no pull hang loose without falling..so this causes the water appear like blobby slimy transparent marshmallow ;)so does tears and saliva..yucky
so the water should stick around without falling away from the cloth
how we will be able to rinse it in space as there is no gravity its not possible
