Project schedule analysis is a needed action to identify facts, anomalies, and issues that can exist due to internal or external actions.  It can be performed either by the contractor or the owner's representative.  Schedule analysis is used to verify compliance with the contract specification, logical sequence between activities, and overall schedule coherence. It should be performed on at least two levels with a recommended third level of time series analysis.

Level1:  At that level, a number of schedule metrics are derived to ensure its soundness and adherence to the project contract specifications.  Baseline schedule and schedule updates must be analyzed to identify facts and anomalies.  Schedule analysis should include metrics for basic information in the schedule, in addition to detailed information.  Basic information such as project name and number of activities should be checked. More detailed information can be reviewed, such as constraints, critical activities, milestone activities, budgeted cost (for cost loaded schedules), completion date, and any specific contract requirements such as maximum allowed duration for activities.

Level2: For schedule updates, a second level of analysis should be performed.  Comparing the schedule update with a previous one or with the baseline schedule can help to identify changes, anomalies, errors, and mistakes. Systematic change identification as a part of the schedule analysis process can help in enhancing the quality of the schedule.  Basic changes such as added actual start or actual finish in addition to other advanced findings such as increased cost without increase of earned value are expected at that level of schedule analysis.

Level3: This involves investigating the schedule performance over a period of time.  That can be achieved by analyzing the trend of key values of the project such as lowest total float, number of activities, and earned value analysis measures.  Analyzing the trends of key project performance measures can be invaluable in realizing the project’s future outlook.

Schedule analysis can be performed by any scheduling software. Schedule analysis processes and metrics are explained in more details in the white papers section.

If it did not promise a timetable for the project when he learned a expiry date of the project and we can not anticipate the steps that affect the expiry date of the project quickly and we can not distinguish the steps that can be done at the same time we can not organize our resources and can not be for those working in the project of knowledge when it comes to their role in the project nor can other projects coordinate their actions with this project.

The table makes us the time we plan for the project is good as it shows us the resources required and how to use and helps us to reduce the implementation time by implementing some of the steps in parallel , or by starting some steps at an early stage . Also, the schedule is a way to coordinate with all the parties involved and affected by the project or some steps , and have set up a timetable necessary basis for the preparation of the map ( Gantt chart ) that make it easier to understand and read the dates and times to schedule.

Therefore , we are preparing a timetable should be simple to follow the following steps:

1 - Type the name of the project or process top of the page with the name of the issuer of the table and Tark version .

2 - Draw a table consisting of a small column to the right and the other the rest of the page is displayed.

3 - without the business in the right column .

4 - Put a measure of the time the top of the left column .

5 - Draw a line or a rectangle shows the time of implementation of each of the steps

Iam not primavera expert but in most of the management meeting we call it the PATTERN CHANGE ANALYSIS what tanveer has explined in level2 , we record two values1 from master schdule2nd from previous schedule which gives if we are trending closer or deviating ..for contractors it might be more cost loaded or bussiness orinted analysis which can be internally but prime goal is target achievement

We can scheudle plan for anything we do beacause without scheduling nothing can in proper and didn't do anything.

from the name, I would say it's an analysis made to test the integrity and correctness of the schedule, it is a way of checking that we would be able to carry out the work, and that the sequence, dependencies and timelines are valid and true.

Schedule Analysis could be needed to elaborate risk involved and analyze it.

It can be done through variance analysis of planned vs. actual, re-defining critical chain and through models. PM software are quite helpful to draw attention at variances.
