Con:
Everyone Gives Their Time
One of the cons associated with team meetings has to do with the allocation of time. Regularly scheduled team meetings can use large amounts of valuable time and labor hours.
Highlighting Disagreements
Another con associated with team meetings has to do with pre-established interpersonal relations. A team meeting can provide an opportunity for private disagreements to play out on a larger scale.
Effective/effecient meetings assists in achieving company's goals, otherwise they don't. I never experienced a business with no meetings.
Meeting can provide effective inputs to the organization if they are conducted properly. Else they will be the mechanism to utilize organization resources only including time.
The main aim of the meeting is to make decision which can be obtained if meetings are conducted properly including - agenda circulation beforehand, effective input from each participants, formal meeting procedures, mechanism to avoid meeting discussions going out of agenda etc.
It has its pros and cons. helps in summing up whats neede, the companies progress, reminding the employees of their goals, solving problems, discussing new ideas... Ect. This happens when you have a well organized meeting and the attendees are seriously working not just having fun.
If the end results have been achieved positively as per expectation and discussions at the meeting, then yes it is useful.
Otherwise it is a waste of time.
This is the reason why there should be a proper agenda, to discuss serious problems with the concern department heads and utilise this time effectively by coming up with good ideas to improve business.
Focused and well scheduled meetings are mandatory and useful as it increase productivity
They will enhance it if effective time management processes are applied.time management is important to ensure no time is wasted.
If the meetings add values to the company then it enhance its time, otherwise no.
No, the company may call a meeting due to the needs of information and inputs or needs some updates. So the Chair must have an agenda to tackle with the board members! and then
to avoid wasting of time, the chair may call for adjournment as soon as the agenda tackled properly and they met their needs!
1. Firstly, one has to remember that the meeting is called for with definite purpose / objective. This meeting could be either scheduled or unscheduled. However, whatever may be the reason the meetings do not waste company time, rather enhance in decision making further.
2. In the company meetings, nitty-gritty are discussed in-depth among the members and the decisions are made accordingly. Discussions are made as per agenda and values are added to the agenda with proper discussion. In no way it is the wastage of time.
If a metting is conducted with prior agenda to all participants or evern prior information with the theme will definetly have have some learning outcomes. I do agree that around40% of them are just general discussion. It is better to share agenda first and discuss them point wise and one should compile its outcome and minutes so that next time everyone come with results or task.
