The best and most effective social media tools depend upon your target group. In which social media you can find and then reach your audience easily that is the most effective and best tool for you.

For Example :  Facebook can be great social media to reach customer (age20-32, Male)  in MENA region while same media will yield no use in China .

If you use any type of social media website to reach the person on the other side of the world, all of them are useful and very effective.

The only point to ensure success in using it as a marketing tool, are your professionalism and proactive approach, which are both required to convince people that you are serious about the product you are marketing.

It also depends on the objectives and the desired results for example for any campaign , you have to provide projected sales as compared to the cost of advertising spend.... now if the target is to increase sales..... and the nature of product is consumer or FMCG.... and you plan to organize events, engage people,,, in order to increase sales, then Facebook is the answer.. Facebook also works well for more "glamorous" products & services like Salons, Restaurants, Designer Wear, Photography etc in short any product which can be glamorized using pictures..... However if the product is B2B or highly priced consumer product(above AED500 in UAE)... this means that the consumer decision making process will be longer.. and Facebook Page would only serve to increase likes and awareness.... and would not really lead to sales. So to summarize, there are 3 components to be considered here ...the nature of the product .... and the objective of the ad campaign.. and the target market.

A new survey shows that when it comes to generating leads and sales, Facebook gets top marks among business-to-consumer marketers while LinkedIn does well for the business-to-business marketer. Twitter comes in as a strong second place winner for B2C leads. Since2006 inbound marketing has been the most effective marketing method for doing business online. Instead of the old outbound marketing methods of buying ads, buying email lists, and praying for leads, inbound marketing focuses on creating quality content that pulls people toward your company and product, where they naturally want to be. By aligning the content you publish with your customer’s interests, you naturally attract inbound traffic that you can then convert, close, and delight over time.

For B2C Business Models- Twitter, FB (Its more of friendly profiles that one will come across)

For B2B Business Models- LinkedIn (Its more of professional profiles that one will come across)

It actually depends which industry you are from, which region you are in, the age group of your target segment etc. For example: If I had to target a large group of audience here in Saudi, I would use twitter, since we are the top10 twitter users in the world. The same startegy would not work ,lets say, in China.

Again, if I was targetting the18 to30 age group, I would focus on having a facebook page with interesting content to engage my young audience. But the same would not work if I was a Law firm trying to reach potential clients; then I would be using Linkedin.

Social media is so vast that it reaches almost everyone. We just need to identify the right one for the right product or target audience.

In the market there are many social media marking tools available. Based on business requirement you can choose the tools. Most of the tools are new. I personally liked TagBoard for its real time leads and then it's free.
