Human need or business need?

As a customer service representative you may be confronted with situations where human need dominate over business need. How would you respond to such a situation? A marketing executives outlook express has frozen the night before he has an important presentation. He calls technical helpdesk and he is angry . How would you react. How would you react if the computer is out of warranty period and you are not supposed to help the customer free of cost.

I will adopt for human needs as long as the business is profitable, i.e. win-win deal and this needs to be assessed using the overall all value of the customer and not only the transactional profitability.
