Each business have its own revenue generation model, and you cannot compare one with the other. Lets take for example of Google, it provides99% of its products/services for free and have a advertising platform. And it uses the ads on all other free platform/services and its network to earn revenue for each using the advertisement gathered through its advertisment platform. So, which would you say better - The revenue generated through advertising platform or the revenue earned through advertisement shown it its other platforms.
And there are other mode of revenue generation like ecommerce, subscriptions, memberships, sponsorship, charity causes, display advertisements, contextual advertisements, intext ads, and so on and so forth. You just cannot call one better than the other
