Schooling is backbone for successful careers? Do you agree or disagree? As many dropouts made it big as well and there are scholars who made it big.

So whats your take on it?

there are two schools in life.

normal educational schools and life educational schools.life teaches alot, but you must understand what careers are each pursuing.

it is true that some people who lack proper schooling  made it big, but in percentage it is low.

I agree with "Schooling is backbone for successful careers" as general, and

"dropouts made it big" as exceptional non scholastic talents.

Schooling is definitely a backbone to success, however the important PART is HOW MUCH VALUES AND LEARNINGS WE ACTUALLY ABSORB AND IMPLEMENT into our professional and personal lives

If the person achieved his or her professional ambitions in life, then, it is a yes.  Eg:  An IAS officer, doctor, nurse, etc.... who works in these positions have achieved their goal and ambitions because of schooling.  Otherwise, schooling is a ticket to enable you to know about the things around you and also provide you with the understanding of the basic things, which you wouldn't know, if an expert was not there to teach you.  Eg:  How do you breathe, what are your rights and responsibiliities as a citizen,  what is a rainbow, etc..... In other words, it helps you to be knowledgeable about the general matters of life.

But if you analyse the past, where businessmen, doctors / midwives / nurses etc..., did not have much schooling, but had extensive practical training from people who had the knowledge.  Some didn't even go to school.

But they were successful, due to the opportunity that came their way and out of difficulties they faced in life, which they used it to progress in their careers and life.  In those days, a Managerial position was very rare and it was handled by the person without an MBA and had the ability to manage people.

About school dropouts, they are very few people who had the special talent and the ability given by God which they put it to good use, to recognise money making opportunities.

So, the point here is, if you want to have a successful career, you should have the talent and the drive to reach your goals, by looking out for suitable opportunities.  Of course, in today's world, if you have the minimum qualification for a career, it is helpful.

But if you don't have it, you should have the ability and the drive to venture out on your own to prove yourself, which could be harder to convince people, as there is a general presumption that people with high qualification has more sense than others who are below such qualifications.  We all know from experience that this is untrue.
