It dosn't matter what you are selling or how good the product or service is.
It is all about HOW you are selling, presenting youself, your company, and your product in the right way.
A good salesman can sell shit.
Hope i could help

If the product offer is not unique, then YOU HAVE TO BE UNIQUE in your approach.

By definition all products are unique.
Let´s take Brand A of a soft drink, in1 liter bottle is one product, in1/2 liter bottle is another product, in a can is yet a different product.
That is why new packaging, colors, definition wording, etc.
etc.
keep being changed all the time.
Products maybe VERY SIMILAR, but are never the same.
We can see this is quite well in the so called commodity market...Wheat from Brazil is sold at difference price than wheat from France, or even from its neighbour Argentina.

To sell a product it always need not be a unique one.
There may be a thousand competitors out there but you need to position that characteristic of product which is the most appealing to the customer.
Ex: A car can have multiple characteristics which the customer looks before buying.
But focusing on Style, Speed and comfort might do the job.
The same way any product can be made attractive by focusing on some characteristics.
Focus group interviews are the best way to know your customers

Firstly,

 1)   Identify the product limitations and its key features.

 2)   Reviewing and revised your product offer and give some different unique approach will easily connect

        with target customers.

3)   Remove limitation as much as possible which are not favourable to the customers.

4)   Rebranding and positionong of product as per new form SOP specially declined product.

5)   Market analysis,Segmentation,People demanding nature, and future innovation in terms of products.

6)   Provide competive value added and free services along with advertising in social media& printmedia.

7)   Most important things its marketing strategy consider to perspective customers and their upcoming need.

You can find similar products in many industries, Sometimes you have to give a unique angle to it.
What is unique in Ariel detergent powder and Surf Detergent powder.
They are similar and they do the same job of cleaning clothes, But If you can remember an angle which Unilever gave to their Brand of Detergent Powder...
"Dirt is good".
Yes, this is their unique angle to a product which is not unique and there are tens of similar products in the market.
