Linkedin have been around for some time and Bayt started recently, but I see that Bayt is progressing faster than Linkedin. The other difference is that Linkedin started in the west and have more participants from that part of the world, while Bayt started in the region to offer the same level of service to locals and that is great for local expertise to build a more effective professional network infrastructure.
True, LinkedIn started from the West but at the same time it's growing rapidly. I being a recruiter use both LinkedIn and Bayt but if I don't have access to any job board, the first thing that comes up in my mind is LinkedIn. I believe it's so popular because it was a new concept and looking at its success we have many such networking sites.
So personally, I always prefer searching on LinkedIn first as their search feature is very much user friendly whereas in Bayt it's quite tough to find a perfect match on what you are looking for :)
