For a team to function as a team it is very much required to have a open & trusting relationship. I am currently enjoying this responsibility where I have to continously deal with team members from varying backgrounds and from different cultures of Africa. This is one of the most challenging but interesting job I have had. What I have learned here is:

1. Respect - It is a mutual thing, Give & take

2. Understand the culture

3. Delegate responsibiliteis carefuly

4. Be a leader but learn to allow the followers to learn why you are a leader

5. Earn turst

6. Be open for communication

I think these are some points you can try. But do remember trust takes time to develop so dont be disheartened by stebacks....

It is very important to build the trust in the team when the culture is a mixed one. Few strategies follows:

1. Communicate openly - Make sure to share thing openly and talk to the team when necessary.

2. Good leader - Lead the team and be an example for them. Act as a good leader by trusting your team, colleagues and boss.

3.  Friendly environment - Know each other personally. Family get togethers would be ideal to make the first move.

4. Don't place blame - Mistakes occur and its natural. But blaming someone will not solve the problem itself. Identify the root cause and try to avoid it next time.

5. Discuss issues - Do discuss with your team on trust issues. Help them to regain trust if lost.
