Every one is a manger. Every one manages his/her time, energy, and life in general. So every one has a manager inside.
I see that strengthening any qualities requires learning (either self learning or learning with a group) and practicing. The length of time will depend on the quality of learning, practicin opportunities, availability of good coaching, the background, & the time and effort you allocate for the process.

if you respect the managerial skills of any of your managers , try to learn from them and if they do something not worthy. Learn not to do it

In my oppinion, if you want to improve your managerial style in a short period, there´s2 key aspects: organization and communication.
For organization, take time to plan, discuss the plan you created and adjust it following the feedback. Define frequent deadlines, and milestones to check if you´re still on time to reach several goals. Find critical issues that can have an impact on the entire project, and monitor these closely. Better spend a bit more time making sure these critical issues are all good then ignoring them in order to save time!
In terms of communication, get frequent feedback from the people doing the actual work. See if there are any issues, and get an overview of what everyone is doing. Often you can dramatically reduce the amount of work just by connecting2 people/workgroups, that are working on similar things, or with one group trying to figure out something that the other group already has solved. I´m always amazed how poor communications even within small groups often is, and how simple it is to solve this issues.
Train with experienced managers
To make one thing (( Think out of box )) meaning he / she must know well that his / her role is not only doing the daily or routine work but MUST think how to add value in his / her paith to reach the ideal frame work flow not only in the section working in but even allover the company sections , as you never know where the the best information come from.
Management will never be a short term learning...But a person has always been a manager as we dont stop learning through out our lifes we never do stop becoming a better manager.
For strenthning the qualities
1. Notice senior managers - their working style
2. Better understand your colleagues
3. Earn respect from colleagues
I think those should be it...
may be you already have those strengths. you are just lacking the connections, plus learning is indefinite.
