i believe you have to get your suppliers or international manufacturers verified by a third party, get your incoterms in order, get your samples and technical specification sheets, get your import codes, verify if there is any free tade agreements that you can benefit from, get any certificates from the manufactures and check with your country's specification and measurments authority if this manufacturer is verified by them as an acceptable quality and approved international supplier,if not bring samples ,have them tested and approved and get a valid certificate for this manufacturer, otherwise once the goods reach customs they will be rejected and you will have to re export them or return them to the supplier that is if they agree.

A few of the important points to be covered prior to international import are:

1. Is the proposed item in the banned or restricted list?

2. Do you require a import licence? Do you require/have the import code number issued by your government?

3. All legal aspects need need to be covered in the order/contract

4. Appropriate INCOTERM (of2010) to be used, to cover transfer of risk and title as per your requirement

5. Full set of documents required: Invoice; Packing list; Bill of Lading or Airway Bill (as the case may be); Certificate of origin; insurance certificate (if covered); any other document specific to the nature of the cargo

6. Is the item classified as 'Hazardous'? HAZMAT/MSDS certificate will be required. Check with the carrier for transportation costs as it may not be economical.

7. Is the landed cost of the item economic for you?
