Probing is an important skill to understand the customers NEED enabling the sales person to position the right product / solution. It also helps in understanding the customers buying and decision making process and provides the sales person an opportunity to influence the same favourably. Probing is an important tool to know the buyers perceived objections towards your offer and helps the sales person to handle it appropriately.

Communication certainly helps in the exchange of information.
