Business Information Systems is mostly about computer networking and software in a support function, and working in a small group of likeminded people, whereas Supply Chain is about networks of companies and larger groups of people, in an operational role.  Do you prefer to work with small or large groups of people or more with machines, and are you comfortable in a support role, or operational role?

Depends on your goals, but I have a feeling Supply Chain is more in demand in the Gulf region, especially in the steel manufacturing and oil industry. I'm currently doing an MBA in IT Management which I find very interesting and my college offers Supply Chain Management as well, but I went with where my interest lied which is in technology.

It depends on your dreams and goals in the future.  But I think that business information system is most widely required.

Follow what you love to do and do what you love to follow.

Pursue the vector that would allow you to maximize and fulfill the most of your potential while achieving attainable goals in an uncertain enveironment, as no vector in life is absolutey certain, change is an unkown contant.

And within that choice, choose goals that will challenge you to bring out the best in your potential

Well its always difficult to focus specially in this rapidly growing global village :-) Market changes consistantly so things/demand either go up or down once you complete your2-3 yrs course.

As per my understanding if you are targeting like big FMCG or production giants then definitely Supply chain is the best option especially for at least next5-7 years. If you are planning to be a part of Service industry like Accenture or Deloitte then BIS is the best field.

In the end, same message that 'Choice is Yours' and believe me 'Problem is Choice' :-)

Interesting subject !

My advises and presonal openion is to study either full time or part time, Dont do online that most of providers are Selling certificates and considering that when thinking in pursueing a PhD in future it will be abtainable ... if you have more that10 years of experinec in a managerial position, then go ahead for an MBA in supply chain, if U find it expensive and you have less than 5 yrs of exp. then MSc. in SCM is would be a nice alternativce ... in UK there're plenty of1 yr Msc. programs especially if U r still single, no depenents.... can be done,, an investment for your career....

Again this is my personal opinion after six yrs exp. and three yrs. of searching and contacting colleges in same topic,,,, I received5 conditioal offer for colleges in UK but not yet decided " due to family and two children" cant afford :(

All the best.

I think the Supply Chain program will definitely give you more advantages. However, as mentioned by some others, I would also suggest to do a full time or part time: Unless it is a highly recommended program or there are financial constraints, then its better to do something rather than leave it. Hope that helps.
