It is important to look closer at the reasons a student may be doing poorly, despite their presence and apparent intelligence. It is possible that the child may be facing challenges at home that are taking his/her attention from their work. It also may be something that is happening at school that needs to be corrected that may be taking the child's attention, such as bullying. It could also be that the child is bored with the material being taught and needs to be challenged.

Well, I think that the problem lies in either my teaching activities do not match his learning style, so the first step I should take is to diagnose his learning style , or he suffers from gaps in his previous knowledge, so the second step should be to analyse these gaps.

THe student is doing poorly but appears to be good??????? Is this goodness about character or something else?I would help him in his studies,a one on one attention at some stage and get to know why he performs poorly yet is in school always.
