It is true that we should teach by example and learners also emulate us.Looking at these two,how careful are you as an English teacher to articulate words well?
The best way is to listen to native speakers or check pronunciation of words or study phonetics and then listen to native speakers in news or on the internet or as friends. All routes will lead to listening to native speakers.
It is perfectly true. I answered a previous question saying that teachers are first and foremost "Role Models" and as such should "guide" and "mentor" their young charges. It is important in their formative years to lead them along the right path and of course this includes ensuring that you do everything correctly. Lead by example and they will surely follow!
You must make relationship with natives ...also look at the dictionary ytranscribe word with its transcript it shows you the right pronunciation
to ensure your pronounce you should speaking alot to the native people and listening to much foreign Movies
I always check them using the dictionary
I always repeat and show correct way for them to follow along
I make sure that i know what I am saying and understand it so that I pronounce it correctly.
Peter,Denis and Ahmed, thank you so much for your detailed answers, they are all correct and point in the right direction to go around the issue at hand.
studystudy phonetics and atleast practice by imitating native speakers or listening to news anchor, reporter or documentaries done in English. Practice, practice.
as for POST-METHODISM ,LISTENING plays a pivotal role,a teacher gotta put a hell of a lot in PRONUNCIATION since he is much like a MODEL in class.and the best way is LISTEN AND LISTEN AND LISTEN to the point that your brain hemisphers get ANGLICIZED
