I am a UAE National who was originally a naturally born American. I was born and raised in the United States, and Allah was very kind to me and brought me to the UAE where I have lived for more than20 years. The UAE is now my home and in my heart. However, English is still my mother language. I grew up in a time when students were taught to speak and write in complete grammatically correct sentences, to spell words correctly, to understand word definitions and to use words correctly in context. So, having been a child of a time when grammar, spelling, punctuation and comprehension were of number one importance, I feel my English proficiency is top level.

I would like to think that my English proficiency is excellent (being English helps!), but it is difficult to "self assess". I would have to leave it for others to judge.

This is a good question to demonstrate why one person may think their level of English is good, but another may not.  I see that you corrected your initial spelling mistake in the title of your question which is good.  'How is your english proficiency?'.  The question can also be reworded as 'How proficient are you in English?'

This adds to the point that many students who are educated abroad, although they have reached a standard which may be above their compatriots at home can still keep learning and improving on what has been learnt.  Learning English is a journey and many foreigners can speak it better than native English/British people.  The US has one of the most exemplary orators of English in the form of the President.
