Speaking from my experience in sorting and preparing applications for the selection process, there are many bits of information that are important when choosing a candidate. Nationality is one of those bits at lot of times. This is for many reasons. There may be specialized education, experience, training, language skills, innate personality qualities, and many more things that can be found in one nationality that may not be found in another. The applicant should take note of this and make sure to highlight reasons why he/she might be well-suited to a job, as employers start their journey to find the right candidate by looking at a paper. It is a fact, and it is not discrimination. When faced with a mountain of300,500 or even1000 applications, sorting through them using nationality, language skills, experience, education, gender, etc. somehow is a starting place .

It should be 80:20 ratio. Experience is mandatory, 80%. 20% Nationality. For other nationals Visa can be one tiresome activity, then language and adaptibility, Family or dependants, when moved, children education. Dependants visa, family accommodation, these are additional liability to employers.
