We should do competitor's benchmarking for our hotel or restaurant only when we need motivation to pursue innovation towards the creating of competitive advantage. Once we earn an excellent competitive advantage, then we will win the market. hotel and restaurant are two slightly different sectors, where hotel provide more service than the average restaurant. For hotel, benchmarking competitor can be done for every4-6 months since there might be reconstruction of properties involved. but, for restaurant, the benchmarking can be done for every3 months for the food and beverage sector since restaurant should keep on innovating in inventing new taste that will attract more customers' visit.
