Stages are different from PROCESS GROUPS:

Initiating, Planning , Ecexuting, Monitoring&Controlling, and Closing are PROCESS GROUPS not stages

I donot know what do you mean by common stages?!

those are the project management groups process and we can use it for differant stages and phases in the same project

PMP is a certificate to manage a project according to the PMI Organization standards. 

 

PMO is a group or department within a business, agency or enterprise that defines and maintains standards for project managment within the organization.The PMO is the source of documentation, guidance and metrics on the practice of project management and execution. So PMO group or department can use PMBOK guidlines or PRINCE2 methodology to manage the projects.
