Do you see self-study or continuous study as a must for a modern professional in your field, or rather as an “extra-professional” activity?

This is a very good question! In my opinion it's a must. Professionals of any age should spend time investing in their own development as human beings and keep up to date with the newest information and trends as professionals. Everything in life is moving forward and becoming better so must improve in order to be actively involved.

Your answer is in your own question. (MUST) is the key word. The quest for knowledge is out there if you just look for it.

"There is a old saying you are never to old to learn something new", "Time waits for no man" and "Time is money ".  These saying are all true but they are meaningless unless you practice what what you have learned and then shareand teach and pass on to other.

Through their natural curiousity and experience, humans have conquered the earth. So learning is a big part of a person's life and it's a process without ending.

Personal Value-Addition should be the priority of an individual irrespective of their profession. But it should immerge from the desire of self-enrichment and not as a means to get monetary or status benefits.I see people around me doing doctorate studies to gain better jobs and not for adding value to academics or to the world.I feel the purpose of studying is to simaltaneously take from the world and give back to it.Not just mad money making or pomp of degrees/diplomas/certificates.

Hi, Its a very good question, Well I think its all depends on profession we choose, For example an lawyer always have to keep himself updated with laws and latest case study. For a doctor, he has to keep upgrading the knowledge and connect that knowledge with latest technologies. For an aviation expert, he has to keep seeing what are the rules and regulations around the world.

"Its Simple we have to keep upgrading our knowledge either by self study or attending some business conference."

I think it should be for both, for your job and for extra proffesional activity.

because you should to be aware of the latest development your field in addition to learn something new in your life and not related to your job or study, this will refresh your soul and brain
