Firstly I'd offer advise to a youngster only if i see potential in them for that industry. Since "Hospitality" is exclusively mentioned here if i notice the individual's personality, skills and abilities seem suited for them to be groomed into a business professional of the field I'd ask them to focus and review their vision.
As i read in an article sometime ago, one should try to view the opportunity as if looking at a ladder. Define your long term objectives and try to view the business from ground up.
Many youngsters at the beginning of their career are looking for an entry-level opportunity (A Chance!). I'd advise them to seek wisely and not just try to jump at any opportunity but rather contemplate by defining where the particular work stream could take them few years from now. I'd ask them to seek places which would offer them training. The beginning of your career is also the most important, spell out your objectives and from your vision try to objective your mission for achieving the ultimate goal for your professional career development.
Before stepping into the world of hospitality, an internship in a similar area before finding full time employment would be a fantastic idea.
