As a freelance news journalist, how do you price your services?

Usually, the generic format in the West is either by number of words/article.

 

But editors will hire people on the number of stories (articles) in a package which works in the Middle East.

 

In the US, a major news organization generally does not have a huge team of full-time journalists, they hire contractors, the term used for freelancing journalists. That makes sense because in the broadcasting industry, you have so many different degrees of the journalist based on their roles, responsibilities, and strengths. You have the:

Anchors, field reporters, desk reporters, correspondents, snitches, stringers, editors, producers, assignment desk just to name the basic.

a free lance journalist do as the same as one for a organization or channel.but in my terms i think in freelance journalism we have to fill all the hole that we may left while working with a employeer.here our price rises with our work abilities.WWWWWH .we have to figure each and every wows of the subject so that we can bring the actuall standards with relevancy.our100percent and then we can price our self...here these five wwwww shows..when with whom where what ..and how...we have to fill all the blanks that are required to file the complete story on board

The price of news journalism depends on what kind of news you are providing, if it is written the price will be less than the audio-visualized one.
In the written piece you decide with the media institute the price for each paper, if it is visualized; the price will depend on the timecode of the filmed material and on the interest of the subject.
