To me, talking about slack or fleet is the same in terms of the maximum amount of delay at the task/activcity level we can allow without impacting subsequent tasks/activities, and without affecting the overall project completion date.
This has some visible relation to the critical path of the project and its phases and whether the task/activity is on this critical path or not !!
