As Amit said, it depends on the task at hand.
The great thing with creativity is its freedom...if a particular project requires it, I may even mash-up Photoshop & Illustrator in my renderings.

By illustrator you can create vector based graphics & with Photoshop raster images It depend upon your requirement if you going for web or for printing.
If you going for web you can use illustrator for qucik wireframing, logo design, drawing illustration, tracing illustration etc.
the output always be vector with option to convert into raster good if you need to resize the graphics back n forth.
Photoshop can also use for both print & publishing as well as web use to create digital art, photo editing, retouching etc.
for web you can create web element, animated gif, high fidelity web mockups etc.

Hi Roba Al-Assi, Depending upon the Work / Project I decide if I have work with Adobe Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator :) - I use Adobe Photoshop for Raster based Logo, Color Corrections, Adding Text to Image, Reducing Size, Enlarging Images, Merging Multiple Images, 2D Gif Animation and so on...
:) - I use Adobe Illustrator (and CorelDRAW) for Vector based Logo, Illustrations, Layout for Fliers, Advertisements, Billboards, Signage, Brochures, Business Card and Letter Head and so on… :)
