If you understand that no one is perfect and that everyone makes mistakes.... then you should be open for any type of critisism, as long as its constructive and not just done to embarass you...
In first instance it's human nature not to accept criticism. People who take filtered relevant feedbacks as perhaps an opportunity for self development usually benefit. It's tough in practise but very helpful in learning.
Anger against criticism is harming oneself and loosing an opportunity.
I will definetly review myself with the criticism, I will study and check if it is for any shortcoming in me I will try to change and improve but if it is jut for fun only it should be ignored.
first of allnever take it personaly, and have a good quality time analyzing itit might be good critizim and it might not.
when you tell me what you want to improve in me, you are actually doing me a favor
people are your mirror
Craftsman needs to hammer countless times on the stone to get perfect shape of the statue.
In the same way one needs to go through countless situations and words in his life (most of the times they are criticism only), if he wants to make some thing big in his life.
If you have come acrossed criticism that means you are doing some thing in your life, you make sure that you put it in right direction. It is just an indicator, you need to catch the right meaning to understand it.
Note: Doing some thing is better that doing nothing in life.
To make it simple there can be two type of criticism:
1. You are directly or indirectly involve and responsible solely or partially.
2. Second you neither are nor involve neither responsible. Or you did this because its right and as per company policies and procedure.
Now: If criticism is from senior management and especially its face to face, then clever is one who listen the criticism first and then ask permission to explain the matter not only with words but also with documents.
Another ways is that you are100 percent sure that even your senior manager even know that what you did is right or its because of you his/her prior permission. Then better to stay silent until you find your manager in good mood. That is the time to bring the matter along with documents and a humble reminder of permission you got from him/her.
A GOOD EMPLOYEE MUST KNOW THE SITUATION AND THEN ACT.
EVEN IF YOU ARE RIGHT- STILL YOU HAVE UNDERSTAND THE ENVIRONMENT OF DISCUSSION.
SURE there is time when self actualization supersedes every thing even job. But it comes rarely in job.
It depends. Is it criticism for the sake of criticizing or for the sake of feedback? Is it destructive or constructive? I would expect such criticism at workplace to be more of the second type(s).
If given as a feedback & in a constructive I will receive them with delight! I love feedback, especially from people are entitled to give it through experience, wisdom or better knowledge.
If bluntly a critique for the sake of putting me down without giving me any reasons or backing-up, it will “go into one ear, and out of the other” (Arabic proverb) without making a whooshing sound!
The best way to overcome such situations is to just ignore such crticisms cause a criticism is not going to change who you are and what you are capable of , instead jus ignore such crticisms and prove ur excellence in work and converting and putting those critisms as a motivation and drive to strive harder will guarantee a positive flow of energy at the work place.
Really listen to the criticism
Instead of attacking the other person for his or her words and building a hostile atmosphere try to calm it down. Try to remain level-headed, open and figure out how this message can help you.
Ask yourself questions like:
Can I learn something from this piece of criticism? Maybe there is something here that I do not want to hear but that could help me to improve?
In normal life creticism is mostly made on jealousy with your position or status. If so, ignore it and go ahead, however if it is something showing you a mistake or weakness associated with you, then it is the right time to pay thanks to the person creticising you, and correct the mistake or remove the weakness pointed to. In the workplace you should always expect criticism from others and prepare yourself to handle it with patience and courage, may it be positive or nagative.
Criticism bring out the flaws and imperfect nature of Man, if the Said criticism is constructive, then i will take to correction and amend but if its done in bad faith or done to embarrass the staff in the presence of co-workers, such is not and will not be acceptable.
