Sometimes you decide to write on a topic and you have enough knowledge to complete it. But you need to write with references to make it more authentic. What will you do in this case?
I will begin with the title, which came from an idea in my mind ..
Then I will start to search for the facts depending on My personal-observation and based on facts and based on the feedback ..
But I have to be fair in my words ..
Regards.
I find that having knowldge of a subject does not necessarily make for a good story. If you have the relevant references to make your topic stronger then you can perhaps draw from some of their points or at least link other writers' points to your own. So in my opinion, search & write, otherwise you may start a project and have to abandon it for lack of references. Hope this helps.
I use both; first "write and search" you need your topic to decide your fields of research, and then "search and write"; your research will help you to add more useful and creative ideas and details; you might add new sections to your research you didn't plan on adding it at first.
Also, through your researches; you will learn more about your topic s latest news and surveys; which would help you improve your research more and more.
In conclusion; ''write and search'' remains better to start with; because when you ''search and write'' you might get lost among all the details would come in your way. Also, it might affect your topic, and then you decide to change it (not a bad idea for later; to plan on writing a new research for the new topic); but at first you should finish your research you were planning on.
God, this question make me miss writing a research; I guess I'll "write and search" and then I'll "search and write". ^_^
writing without search or research is not academic. everyone can write but ther those that have high status in the field of knowledge are those that a thorough research have been conducted. so in my opinion, search first and then write
Unless you are writing your own novel, story, poem..etc.....writing without references , even with the absolute accurate knowlege is currently considered weak & unreliable. However, it doesnt mean that you have to adopt others work on the topic, but rather, references that supports your point helps strengthen your piece of writing & gives it more credibility.
I would say always start with researching. You never know what other people have said about it already. There is not much usefulness in a piece that has little new knowledge. Starting with research allows you to have a background about the topic so that you intigrate what you have learned into your piece and the result would be a piece that is part of the current knowledge about the topic, not a stand-alone piece that doesn't fit with what's out there about the topic.
