Excellent question Mr. Marvi, but a bit too broad for the space allowed. Answering the question could have been much easier if you name examples of those “other” social media platforms. Social media is a big & vibrant universe expanding everyday; new stars are born & old ones lose their shine and die.

 

Make a Social Media Marketing Plan, in which research, internal situation analysis (company’s preparedness) & external situation analysis (market, audience & competitors) are central.

 

  1. First segment your audience (demographics, psychographics, geographic, new or existing customers etc.)
  2. Decide on the objective of your social media strategy/campaign (sales, brand awareness, driving web traffic, market penetration, sales, engagement, customer service, reputation damage etc.)
  3. Determine the kind of messages your want to share through social media platforms (product displays, PR messages, special offers, click-through links to website, satisfaction surveys etc.)
  4. Paid or free or a mix between paid and free?
  5. Internal or external (agency)?

 

Finally, segment your target social media platforms to choose from:

  1. Social networks (Facebook, Tagged etc)
  2. Professional networks (LinkedIn, Xing etc.)
  3. Microblogging (Twitter, FirendFeed etc.)
  4. Video sharing (Youtube, Break etc.)
  5. Photo sharing (Instagram, Flickr)
  6. Social Bookmarking  (Redit, StumbleUpon)

As mentioned below, the question is too broad but I would do the following to gauge or enhance performance on any social network

1. Research about target audience and create the types of customers your business engages.

2. Analyze the messages/channels/time where & when the target audience engages

3. Based on the numbers, derive the final KPIs

4. Create a calendar of when/what/how to promote message you would like to deliver to target audience. The calendar here could be created from monthly/weekly/daily and even once in an year/quarter etc.

5. Create the different types of content based on channels and the calendar (blog post, videos, infographics, social media post etc.)

6. Make sure the message is spread uniformly across your website/app/social media channels

7. Finally In the reporting tools, segment your data to check the results and insights and then optimize the campaigns to improve the performance
