Currently there is no silver bullet "best operating mobile system" answer. I would break it down into few areas , Im not familiar with Windows Phone so comparing Android and IOS for now.
1. Perfomance : IOS wins. Android depends on Java JIT, which means it need much more horsepower for the same perfomance with IOS with lower spec hardware, IOS apps run natively, no messy Just In Time compiler.
2. Customizability : Android wins here. There is no limit how much you could customise Android. From the interface, up to kernel level such as scheduler, drivers etc.
3. Hardware : Android wins again, you have more selection for camera, screen size, resolution, screen type, speakers etc..
4. Application : IOS wins again but Android is really closing the gap compared to two years ago. Developer are more interested nowadays to create apps for both platform version and less and less apps are locked into IOS platform. Android software is also more refined now compared to2 years ago. I think with newer version of Android, more features, more perfomance tweak and more refinement Android will win in this area another version two.
5. Security : being a propietary s/w made for its own hardware, with tightly rigid and controlled app store it is much more harder to create viruses for IOS. There are only proof of concept viruses for IOS but android by now has quite a number of viruses. Not many but there are a number of real viruses on Android.
P/S: Not sure the relation of NSA with Apple though, but being open sourced, a bugged Android would be spotted by someone.
6. Updates : For layman, IOS wins. Simple and IOS devices are have longer lifespan. On Android front its very very messy. Some devices have long lifespan. Some kicked the bucket after only1 year. Some are promised2 years then cut short11/2 years.. very very messy.
For those slightly technologically adept Android wins though. Custom Rom such as Cyanogenmod, AOSP etc have a very long lifespan. There are developer who create Kit Kat ROM for my2011 Sony Xperia Neo , when Sony have abandoned updates since mid2012
Hi, Santosh! Your question is too generic. By your question no one can give an answer but we can give our point of view. Each Mobile Operating System has it's own advantages and disadvantages. For example, consider Android OS which is Open-Source and also you will have an open source market where millons of apps are available for download. Comparing this Android to iOS (Not Mac) of cource iOS also have millions of apps for download but it's not an Open-Source. Like wise Windows is trending and booming operating system. Recently this also reached millions of apps in its App Store. From the performance perspective also it's not only depends on entire software but also Hardware. So we can't just simply come to a conclusion this is best. If so as i said it's will be an opinion of individual not a final conclusion. Hope, it helps! Thank you
Clarence Edward .. thanks for this answer
