I earlier asked about the insights for online shopping trend in Gulf countries and I found that there are not too many people who are doing online purchases. I like to get a general opinion from people here; what can be the main attraction to make people shop online i.e. Presentation, Language etc.
There are multiple factors and that differ from product to product, however I tried to highlight some common factors as follow.
1) Customer Usability of Website
2) Price Parity between Physical and Online store
3) Detailed information
4) Quality Image can increase the chance by5%
5) Good after Sales Service
Price, Product options , process and time
If i have to use my credit card, i need to check the security of the website
If it is my first time i will google search for reviews what others are saying about their service or their experience shopping from the same site.
Price too low then probably the product is a clone of the original brand
I need to have a clue if what i see on the website is what i get if i pay for
The reason i want to shop online is probably because i an not free to go to the shop
if the delivery is good and payment option (preferably cash on delivery)
It takes very little for me to make the decision to purchase online, but there are some things that are just not worth paying the shipping for when buying from online marketplaces. For example, would I purchase clothing and shoes from online? Yes, I definitely would. Generally, the Gulf marketplace for clothing and shoes is quite overpriced. I would rather pay Aramex the QAR 75 for the shipping charges on about QAR 500 worth of shoes and clothes purchased from a United States clothing site than to spend QAR 2500 on a lesser amount of clothes at the malls in Qatar. To me, it is not worth the inflated pricing to shop in my local marketplaces.
However, on the other side of the coin, I would not purchase a kitchen mixer (KitchenAid or K-Mix) from online...for various reasons. 1. It would not arrive in one piece; 2. The shipping charges on something that heavy would outweigh the actual cost of the product itself; 3. The voltage/wattage on electric products is often different than the voltage required in the Gulf. I would rather go to the kitchen products store and buy a solid, well-known product direct.
It all depends on the consumer and what it is that they are looking for.
If one is thinking to do online shopping then there are definitely some reasons that consider shopping online. Mainly there are some definitive factors that i love for like
1. How needy i am
2. what i want to purchase
after these 2 questions, i will round up the necessary and then will proceed to the next step like where to buy and what to consider in those sites.
If we are going for online purchase then it is quite natural that we want to test some questions in the basic approach
1. Let's try
3.No manual work
4. Don't have to spend more time
5. Easy purchase & returns and lot more options people check for and mainly i do check for these things.
People need everything the EASY-way these days, give it to them!
VERY SIMPLE: do a market study and offer the customers something they NEED and that has standard quality and no need for personal checking: ex if you are buying vegetables you cannot verify qulaity online whereas if you are buying a can of Pepsi or a perfume by Versace then you can be sure of quality. Of cource easy of using the website, to be user friendly, and payment verified and payment on delivery option because many customer are afraid of Fraud and losing money so by putting payment on delivery the customer is encouraged to order many things! cheers!
