You wouldn't take a trip to an unknown destination without a map or at least a reliable GPS device. Without a map, you might end up spending half the trip retracing your steps as you try wrong road after wrong road. Your career is much like a trip. Without goals, not only will your job performance suffer, you may take many wrong paths before you find your way to success.

Yes Actually specific goals is an important part of moving ahead in your job. Whether you're an employee who wants to get a promotion or a manager who wants to get a raise for leading a successful team

For me I always prefer SMART GOALS. Make your goals adhere to the SMART acronym if you want to create goals that are both achievable and motivating. SMART stands for Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic/Relevant and Timely.
