Before discussion I will make survey with different Clients and try then as i would like my product I will discuss and achieve the suitable resolution
I will try to discuss it with my manager. The discussion should include some facts, statistics, your competitor prices, the market prices in general and studies. If you don't have such material, your manager will think that you are not qualified enough for such a job.
Oviously, i would have a talk with my manager. Sometimes, employees are closer to find a judgement whether a product is sucessful or not, or in addition, would find what make the product overpriced. However, it all depend on the nature of the product or the marketing mix. To be short, as an employee, with the athorisation of the manager, i would :1. Make a survey: This wold help me to define what make the price not effective and allow me to discuss directly with the potential customers.
2. Find the competitors' price. Was price skimming (assumption) appropriate or would a competitive pricing would be more appropriate? (Depend on the nature of the product)
3. Ultimately, i review the pricing strategy with the managers (if allowed to) - discuss with the managers of the results.
I think that you should discuss with your manager for the following reasons:
From ethical point of view. You should not sell a product more than its real value, as this would be like cheating.
From Market point of view, if you will be able to sell it for some time, your customers will know the real value of your product later and you will lose your credibility and you will not be able to sell them any other product & they may say this in public and you lose your company reputation.
Depends , If competitors have the same in less price we definitely discuss regarding the same .
If not that means they already know about the best price once decided onwards it’s comes in open market . Now, we have to do our job.
It depends, if the product is a luxurious product targets A class customers, or a unique product that doesnt have any substitute or a strong competitor i wont discuss it with him, if its none of these things I will definitly discuss it with him.
If you need to sell something overpriced then you must make sure to put across the customer's table some unique specs which will make your product stand apar and give you an opportunity to justify the high price factor ;this will surely give you more chances to sell it.
And to do so primarliy you must be well aware of your market and detail specs of your competitors product of same category.
its better to select the target audience carefully,, do not move around cheap looking customers,,, market leaders may be your list to sell the product,,, have full knowledge before presenting the product in the market.
It depend on the quality and genuineness of the product , we should refer the competition status and bench mark report .If report says the market price is lower than the price absolutely inform management and correct the price .
Very Overpriced without any more criteria in the product itself will make a bad impression for the customers that the product is - only expensive - which will effect the product image in the market . / discussing with the managment to take accurate action is must.
it's like a function more benefits from the product = higher price.
Same criteria of competitors = need to get competitve price
There is no such thing as overpriced product. There is only poor marketing.
