What I did? I install the soft drink machine! And what i always do is to listen and to care of my employees.
Every employee is always eager for an incentive or something extra which motivates and makes him or her bring in productivity at work. Installing a pool table and a soft drink machine will defnitely be a big time attention getter for the employees. By doing this you are already taking good care of your employees. Every company listens to the employee only if they work well because actions speaks louder than words. So I bet if you add pool table and soft drink machine, it will make the work more fun for the employees. And if work becomes fun, all employees would eager to complete their tasks and work in a team.
Listen to employees carefully, and see if their stuffs can be achieved or what this is good for business.
I will do both and ask for exceeding agreed performance measures.
