I agree, the diploma won't tell the whole story.
Another question is: why do the highly educated ppl accept jobs with unacceptably low salary?

yes, Talent always matter.
but to show your performance you need to be in system.
its not like that the companies are not willing to give chance to the people like this.
but the only problem is, how would they know the person is talented and skilled.
the person handling the recruitment process gets100's of resume daily and its not possible for them to give chance to everyone.
they have to follow there standard procedure to filter.

Because they can't.
Part of the process of hiring someone is getting them a labor card.
The ministry of labor usually requires a college degree for most positions in "big companies." If the ministry of labor can make exceptions to *some* people w/o a college degree I highly doubt they would for someone w/o a highschool degree since that is the minimum level of education in this country (All children must graduate highschool).

Does a degree over ride experience ?If someone works their way from the bottom upwards to management, they will have an understanding of the duties of each role and the way it works. With a degree, people often jump in at the higher levels and don't understand the true finer points of their business.

it all depends on market dynamics and forces.

if the market is currently saturated with educated and experienced professionals with degrees, why would it be acceptable for them to accept experienced non diploma holders.

it isn't personal, its supply and demand.

Why do big companies in Dubai don't choose a person without high school diploma may be because a high school diploma add merits to a person having a good talent.
It will shows to the prospective employers the academic abilities and that person follows scientific procedure and had thorough knowledge in doing such talent with proper training.
Experience is a good teacher but when both experience and academic knowledge combined that would be a better bet than without diploma.

The minimum level of education - A young person is expected to reach is a level of high school education.
This demonstrates (on paper) that the person has reached the required standard requested by the 'education/government system.
- The importance of reaching education targets and completing education needs to be emphasized in schools as to how not having this could affect the rest of a young person's employment opportunities.
- It is not always easy to complete this education as there may be financial stresses on families etc.
- However, once this hard work is done, it can help the next step along the education/employment path.
- If education does not even reach this level, the employment route can seem like an uphill struggle.
It's unfortunate that it's 'ticking the boxes' of academia that puts the foot of applicants through the door, even if they may not be the best candidate.
The employer is looking for someone who also 'ticks their academia and potential employment boxes'.
Does candidate have high diploma? Yes = tick, go onto next step versus, Does candidate have high diploma? No.
Most employers will stop right there.
Vocational training/training on the job in big companies in Dubai could be an idea.
Companies make an investment by training potential employees.
Unfortunately, unless the trend changes, employers tend to want to have employees who can fill job vacancies immediately and with little or no managing.
Although many candidates without high school education could do just as good a job or even better than those with one, unfair as it is, many employers will prefer to have stick with their high school education required criteria.
This does not mean that those without high school education are failures and doomed never to succeed.
Some of the world's entrepreneurs and successful business people did not have high school diplomas.
They found was they were good at, had good and bad days, hard times and good times but persevered and believed in themselves.

Education & Experience both count for success.
Certain position require the both.
However, less educated is also hired.
Sometimes they improve their education in part-time.
If company does not hire them, the contractor or sub-contractor may be hiring.
I have seen many under-educated persons be-came bosses of their own businesses and hired graduates.
Their is no end to possibilities.

Dubai has a large diversity of workforce available anytime at their disposal. The law of supply and demand will apply. Yes, we have thousands of available jobs in Dubai, but the number of applicants are way beyond the number of jobs available, not to count those people who are already currently employed and has already invested on their GCC and UAE experience and then wanting to look for a better job. Dubai is a portal for opportunities. People come here as tourists and decide to look for a job once they get accustomed to the life here in Dubai. Big companies will not settle for less if they know that there are a lot of highly skilled experienced candidates out there. Dubai is the center hub of the world and professionals keep coming from any direction, West, Europe, Asia, GCC countries, it is evident in the society present in Dubai, where you can see the diversity of cultures and nationalities living in Dubai. Having no degrees or diplomas will be a tough challenge but it is not impossible to get a job in Dubai, you just have to be persistent and consistent with applying and don't expect too much out of it if you don't have the educational qualification. Start from the bottom and work your way to the top one step at a time.

i suppose big companies are directed through systems than human.
the appraise and evaluation is done through standard procedures.
and those with less literacy they can not involve in system are declined.
even they are talented and skilled.

When a company decides to hire someone, they look for someone who can contribute to the company in a very positive way. Big companies have the advantage of being able to choose the best candidates. It is very easy and feasible for them to acquire candidates who possess both educational qualifications and experience. Why would they compromise on either? They want both! They probably won't hire you if you have a good degree but no experience and vice versa. However, some companies may not be able to get the best of both worlds (for reasons of offering lower salary and benefit packages, not being very well-known etc.). These are the only ones who would either prefer education or experience. What I am trying to say is that if a recruited has an option to hire a person who possess both, they would definitely opt for him / her.
