I would like to sell to both. But, it will be more challenging and exciting to sell a product to a knowledgeable and well informed customers. For ex: A Medical Rep is selling a product to a doctor (Of course mostly in-direct sales as they only prescribe the products) here the buyer (doctor) is well aware of the product than the seller (Med Rep) which is very tough task to convince the buyer.

Selling is a process specified to all customers , for any categories, knowledge, years. education....For more it's more interesting and investing to uninformed customers to let them know more about our products and let them me a knowledgeable one so they can inform others about our market to get more customers. It is the best way of selling.

Knowledge is irrevalent based on consumer point of view. Its an ethical sales person responsibiliy to educate the consumers, ensure consumer understands the pros & con's, giving the best options to choose & educating the consumer about the product. Some customers may know some details & others may not have any idea but no one will know as much you know... Thus, without making any difference its sales person responsibility to educate & guide consumer without making any differences. :-)

Both, but it is more challenging and more greener opportunity in uninformed customers, because they have the potential for increasing sales, by means of their buying power and subsidiary partnership in disseminating the product to his contacts, depends on negotiation capability. Informed customers are already known the product, they know if they want to buy or not. Providing additional promotion or marketing strategy might increase the sale for that customer.

The customer must get the right product whether he is informed/uninformed.  I can understand what is his need and I will sell him only the suitable product.  An informed customer may require more clarification, I should be capable of explaining him for which product knowledge is essential. I must voluntarily explain to the uninformed customer the details of the product and the way they are useful to him/ the way in which he has to use the product.
