mri depends on magnetic feild and dont use  x ray beam ionizing radiation so its considered unharmfull except for peoole who have metalic implantaion .so that mri is contra-indicated in this case

Since MRI was introduced, MRI side effects are still unknown but is relatively considered safe. However, some cases of increased in the temperature on the part being examined has been observed. Pregnant women are still  asked to sign a consent form by some healthcare institution because the side effects of MRI are still unknown.  Most importantly, MRI is contraindicated to patients with metal implants such as cardiac pacemaker and other metallic implants that are not made of titanium because of the risk of injury to patient.

MRI has been in use for many years and no definite side effects have been observed on adult individuals with no magnetizable implants/pacemakers in their bodies. So far no effects on fetus of pregnant females has been found either.  It is merely a strong magnetic field with no exposure to harmful radiation whatsoever. As long as the correct precautions are taken there should be no risk of side effects whatsoever. This is of course assuming no IV contrast is used, which carries its own side effect, with incidence rates and risk factors still a mater of controversy.

There are no known harmful effects from the strong magnetic field used for MRI. But the magnet is very powerful. The magnet may affect pacemakers, artificial limbs, and other medical devices that contain iron. The magnet will stop a watch that is close to the magnet. Any loose metal object has the risk of causing damage or injury if it gets pulled toward the strong magnet.
