Have a one on one meeting with the employee.
Ask the employee if they are happy in their position, and if not, ask why.
Listen to what the employee has to say. If the employee has a valid position, thank them and try to amend policy for the better of the company. If not, tell the employee that they must obey the rules like everyone else. Also, make it quite clear that you are their superior in the company and they have to answer to you and their insubordination is neither professional nor acceptable.
A written note of this meeting should be added to the employee's file documenting the meeting and it's outcome. The note should be signed by both parties.
it is best to be firm and well understood when handling this sort of situation.
I would talk to the employee face to face. I would ask the employee exactly what is the problem. And if what I hear is valid then I will make arrangements on how to fix the situation. But if not then I would stand firm by the rules of engagement and make them known to the employee.
you have to play diplomatice role to handle employee. First try to understand each employee's character and then play your role with them. in general most of the employee's like to receive appriciation what ever they do.
In any critical situation of your oragnization you have to be cool and behave in such way so that they understand the situation and make the situation normal. To do that you have to be a part of them.let them to fell you and your organization.
Listen to them regarding their problem in work as well as personal.
And make yourself clear to them that you are their superior in a diplomatic way and build there professionalism in work place. Appriciate them for obeying the companies rules and their professionalism....
