No we can’t say that CAD is also A GIS Software becauseGIS is a database program, and CAD is a graphics program. With CAD, it's the lines that are important, i.e. the drawing is the information. With GIS, the lines are just a representation of the data behind it.
GIS Description: GIS is a computer system capable of capturing (when paired with a GPS), storing, analyzing, and displaying geographically referenced information. The power of a GIS comes from the ability to relate different information in a spatial context and to reach a conclusion about this relationship CAD Description: CAD software is used to create precision drawings or technical illustrations. CAD software can be used to create two-dimensional (2-D) drawings or three-dimensional (3-D) models. Often partnered with a CAM (Computer Aided Machine) or Mill for precision fabrication. Summary: The difference between CAD and GIS systems is becoming blurred with the internal attributes and database linkages enhancing CAD’s capabilities.GIS data normally covers a large geographic area, where CAD data are normally much smaller areas.
GIS data is normally displayed at smaller scales than CAD data.
GIS data is often captured with less accuracy than CAD data.
GIS data normally include attribute information, where CAD data historically haven’t.
Conclusion:But what happens when you combine GIS and CAD requirements within one solution. Basically you get highly spatially accurate data with attribute information, and from what I seen this is where the CAD software vendors are heading with their Information Modeling products.
we cant't say that CAD is GIS software, however it helps in some GIS issues, like points coordinates or to import a CAD file to use in geospatial softwares.
No, we cant say that. But GIS Software is a kind of CAD. Modern GIS technologies use digital information, for which various digitized data creation methods are used. The most common method of data creation is digitization, where a hard copy map or survey plan is transferred into a digital medium through the use of a CAD program.
Yes We can say CAD is GIS software tool. By using Auto cad we can do the GIS Work and can convert it to other compatibility software format extension like .dwg to .shp etc.
it's more a "modeling" from GIS angel, and it can handle some GIS needs for sure.
Thank you Sir Muhammad Shakeel it was really conceptual answer that i think we can not find in books and can only be from real practical experience.. thank you for clearing my concept and one thong i want to add here that CAD may be a software in which we can have spatial modeling one by one and on the other hand in GIS mulitiple layers can be hadle at the same time by just check in check out please make correction if I am wrong???
