Difficult employees are the ones mostly you problem in the company, whether skills wise or attitude wise.
There is nothing called difficult employees. I'd rather call them none-tamed or none-looked-after persons.
First handle them individually, and start for their leader (can be figured easily). Then Try to figureout their reasons behind such a behaviour.If you were the dicision maker, then pointout their training needs and enroll them into a training session. And if they have an attitude probles, beleive me my friend there is no attitude promblem without a valid reason.

I totally with Sajed Othman, as per my experience difficult employee / worker are mostly under looked whether skill wise or reward wise. We should talk him individually about their attitude in this way we the problem can be resolved easily.
Please Define difficult...ask a lot? wants to learn? perfect, that is good, doesn't know a lot or doesn't want to work? why is he your employee?
Take it easy to deal with difficult people. Ultimately they are just humans with senses. When you are interating with them always be polite and gentle, even if they are rude to you and not listening to you.
Don't forget to communicate and take the conversation in writing. Whatever you understood, just communicate them gently, whatever you wanted to communicate them, just drop an email and ask them to confirm, even if they are not ready to listen you or not are replying, you just do your job..thats it... Ultimately you will win the battle...Thats my simple working strategy from years now.. :)
very simple,no work without difficult employees,you want job to be done n they want sallary. all emlpoyees delegated to there responsibilities and each team must work to gain an increment and a better post...one fails to carry on the post will cause the whole group suffer. team work is one way of disciplining employees.still they cant change you make an agreement same trouble he makes there is termination with one month work with no pay.
Calling a meeting, and making them to understand.
In short, fix them, replace them (keeping them for other things) or get rid of them completely !
