Absolutely, you need to be creative and genuine (original) in your event planning from A to Z. Yesm you also need to follow best (proven) practices, but you also need to innovate and invent to stay ahead of others in the marketplace.
Being unique in what you are doing, and insisting on (unique business value) in what you are doing and offering to your markets/customers is key in your professional success.
I have been working in this field for the last20+ years, exchanging seats/roles from organizing to executing, presenting, panel discussions, moderation, .... being a vendor in some cases, a client in other cases, a solution provider, educator, advisor or moderator.
