you can add more tools and technics for your knowldge from these books

Better than those who did it one-on-one.YES we can.It is however a tip of the ice-berg,the bulk lies in the inner drive one has to compete on the market. The sales market(like any other market anyway) is a cut throat affair where the fittest and versatile survive.
One can get the know-how and mechanics of it by reading books, but one needs to have a flare and patience for it to really succeed in sales. For some people, it comes easy but for some, it needs to be mastered as in the case of any other skills. Sales is a tough job and may not be suitable for every one.
Yes, reading will give you basic ideas about the topic you want to know or learn even in sales. By applying this knowledge in real life will surely makes you become a good sales man.
Books are necessary for the basic theoritical background and valuable experiences gained by practitioners. After that comes the hands on experience.
Surely today is all written, how to do, what to say .. that smile do, how to dress and how to behave and sell better. But a person must have the enthusiasm to sell, to please the customer, make him happy purchase. This thing is not in the books is within us. I remember that my father was an agent for the sale of medicines, he had not studied marketing techniques and strategies, but it was the first vendor of the company. To sell was jovial, friendly, he always told jokes and doctors were always happy to receive it. Before he sold himself then gave explanations in its own way, the doctors prescribed medicines. We can learn how to sell through a book? Will the book show us the way, but, in my opinion, intuition, sensitivity and human contact are essential and are part of our intelligence (not just knowledge).

Up to some extent we can get familier with sales methodolgies from books, and books do provide the description of research & study of many years, but A sales person have to get his own efforts to understand them pricatically and thus we can say, books are complimentary to practical knowledge.
In other way we can say that " Marriages are made in heaven but maintenence charges have to paid on earth"
