Hi Badar,

Very good question and it has very deep impact on the life sytle also not only on decesion making abilities.

When we get associated with a well organized system, we learn how to look at the problems, opportunities and how to get them analyzed for short tem losses and long term profits also as vice verca.

The base of any decesion is the analysis and this is what we learn in systematic way and in effective way.

Good Day Bader!!!

Becoming a part of a well organised company and follow a routine in decision making skills?

Such organizations has certain limitations along with numerous advantages. Yes they are very professional in operations but their decisions are bookish ( written and practiced). I am not saying they take wrong decisions, but they dont need out of the box ideas to solve the issues as they dont suffer because of it.

They usually dont face certain issues that small and less organized companies faced and gets rid of them with tactful decisions.

I am agreed to Mr. Muhammad Thiab's opinion. But such organizations should welcome new ideas brought to them by new joiners.

Well-organized routine is definitely good to a greater extent BUT beware of "too much organization" from running in your blood & becoming part of your "professional psyche"! By this I mean needless bureaucracy, "over-organisation" of simple processes and the century long & dreadful decision making mentality typical in bigger organizations. Being big usually justifies such long and slow decision making, as more people hold key-buttons and need to be informed and consulted, allowing both for good "quality assurance" of decision & reviews (processes) AND bad quality "decisiveness" and slow reaction-speed. Another counter-productive effect of well-organised routine is "creativity-killing conformity"; the kind that will have you think a number of times, equal to the number of people you're gonna have to costult and ask for consent, befor actually making a simple "life-saving change" to a vital process.

Good people are like water ..   they are flexible and adaptable to take the shape of the container they are placed in.

The container in this case would be the company, organization, culture and/or work environment they go to and work for.

If the company is a great company with well-organized systems (like IBM that I worked for in Saudi Arabia for17 years), I can assure you the level of experience, knowledge and ability to analyze, assess and make decisions will be great !!

Here you are dealing with sytems, organizations and culture that have been leaders in several aspects for many decades  ... the quality of people behind the system makes a bog difference,   and there is usually a lot to learn from them ... this is what happened in my case !

I hope this answers your question

Right decision in the right time contributes in the organization success!

·         Ask "What needs to be done?"

·         Ask "What is right for the enterprise?"

·         Develop action plans

·         Take responsibility for decisions

·         Take responsibility for communicating

·         Focus on opportunities rather than problems

·         Run productive meetings

·         Think and say "we" rather than "I"

In such cases, you usually follow will designed systems based on full analysis of requirements so you can learn a lot but on the other hand if you are not allowed to present your views and discuss them objectively you will start to lose your decision making skills.
