Manage your project within budget and within time. Make project charter after proper due diligence and draw a realistic roadmap. Identify right person for the right job. Build a team and motivate them to perform.
There is no such thing as a "tough Project". Its the team that matters. Plan wisely, have a good team. Be the best PM to the team. Sit through its goods and bads. Keep pushing the team with positive vibes, the result in enormous. More than what you can expect. In the end, your learning is X*10 and so is the teams learning on the Project. That is the best TIP.

From my point of veiw (( Plan )) if you make plan then you put all the factors to achive it , then you have taken in your research in order to make your plan come ture.

try to manage your resources and your time limit in a good manner to achieve desire goal. plan properly by keeping your desired goal in your mind and try to have good grip on all of your resources and time.
The two main aspects that makes project not to complete on time and cause major lag in delivery of projects and impacts success is Gold Plating and / or Scope Creep. Hence avoid these two precedes and plan accordingly with project constrains like Scope, Quality, Cost, Time, Resources and Risk. Apart from this other factors which need to focus like Client Satisfactions, On Time Deliverables, Team Building etc.
