"There is a vacant post, and we need to fill in urgently, bring CV's within2 days." that is the common instructions received from senior managers who may not aware of the background of hiring process.. Is there job description? No. Is there is salary grade already decided for the post? No. All you will know later. That is the tough task and may be possible or not, but I just want to know from experts - is it possible ? and what are disadvantages of such hiring procedure? Thanks Hassan Al Jabri
blind hiring will cause blind fire and at the end the result will be0 so for hiring description is must.
according to me .... a big NO for this........ we cant hire anyone without jd or pay grade ..
It should not be possible to recruit someone in any position without job description and salary grade. If any thing happan without it that organization does not follow the HR policy or not establish HR policy in his or organization.
Yes these type of hiring process would result in big blunder, and in some case you will be lucky too by getting right person, it will be like lottery draw simple as that. Main disadvantage is simple " Company Will Suffer " and here what you can do is talk to the manager and atleast get info regarding "which post it is vacant " and based on that work on job description and find the right candidate. Job describtion should be clear so that candidates can go through it without any difficulties and can gain some idea about the job which they gonna apply.. :)

In Good organization this case can not occur
Its possible if the organization is one of those 'hit the market and run' organizations. Usually won't be found after a year, and probably illegal.
In the normal corporate world, due to may anti-discrimination laws, details and specificity are the normal required attributes.
However, in one hiring level there is an except to this normal. The Intelligence Community thrives on vagary and minimal details. The general rule is; We can't tell you anything until you have a clearance.
