If you kept your wife waiting for you longer than expected , accept criticism.
In arabic , we say similarly "As you made yourself a hero , accept the consequences"
If a remark applies to someone, he should accept it and take it as a criticism
if the shoe fits (wear it)
As my understanding, it implies a situation where someone is doing incorrectly or something about their nature and it's commented/ critised by someone else, and if that person does not accept the true comment but defending himself, he/ she will be said 'if the cap/ shoe/ glove fits, wear it', am i right ?
I think it is an American idiom and is also being used in Australia in a different form," If the shoe fits wear it".
It is used for a situation when someone is blamed or criticised for something, he should accept it if feels guilty.
Example:
I'm not blaming anyone for this blunder but be realistic, and if the cap fits, wear it.
