Can anyone explain Subtotal function in Excel?

and What's the syntax?

SUBTOTAL formula is used to find out subtotal of a given range of cells

simply 

subtotal used to get  result of one  function in  range been   filtered

subtotal = ( function num ; ref1:...............)

function num  that used in subtotal are

1= average

2= count 

3 = counta

4 = max

5 = min

6 = product

7 = stdv . s

8 = stdv.p

9 = sum

10 = var.s

11 = var.p

subtotal of excel is used to determine the output of every number that you are input. for example you are using the arithmetic1+1=2 the subtotal is2 because it is the output of the number that you are input. the subtotal function is used by the numbers, signs and colors.
