Less talk less argument. Just be professional and just work. Sometimes giving them arguments makes them stronger by giving you another arguments. All you need to do is work and at the end of the day same thing happens you go home and as well as him.

Why is a person being difficult? Well, it us either because it is their defence mechanism towards being dominated/coordinated with or they have a negative notion about you. Case1 , give them what they desire, a sense of control / solitude but remain firm/ in the procedural loop, this helps fast track the work. Case2 is all about trust building via communication, efficient operation and dedicated support.
